“The Thomas Heatherwick - designed structure - built of rusted metal to resemble washed-up driftwood - is unmissable, smack bang on the seafront. with windows thrown open, the independent seaside cafe is lovely and airy inside. No suprise it's popular with families and 'a little noisy' at the weekend. Fast and efficient service keep things ticking over and guests, young and old, are treated with respect. From an imaginative, all-purpose menu, the fish and chips (crisp batter, proper chips) pass muster, while salt-and-pepper squid, moules mariniere and crab linguine put an international spin on things. The wine list (from £13.95) is suitably seafood-friendly and very quaffable. If you're passing by, it's worth popping in just for a slice of superb homemade cake.
